Precience Introduces Enhanced PartNavigator Delivering Supply Chain Decision Support Directly Into EDA Capture Environment

WORCESTER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 2001-- Precience, Inc., today announced the release of PartNavigator(TM) 2.0 software, a major enhancement to the company's supply chain decision support and integration technology solution. The product delivers supply chain decision support directly into the electronic design automation (EDA) capture environment and provides an EDA cross-platform integration technology to OEM design engineers improving their ability to create superior product designs. The PartNavigator 2.0 solution significantly reduces engineers' time spent researching new components by providing a real time feature.

``The PartNavigator 2.0 product will reduce time-to-market by enabling engineers to design and build printed circuit boards (PCBs) correctly the first time, eliminating any need to re-design and re-spin boards due to component obsolescence,'' said Ahmed Khan, president and CEO of Precience(TM). ``This new solution is supported by several content providers, such as Total Parts Plus, Inc., which offers an unbiased parts database of over two million parts. PartNavigator 2.0 software brings supply chain management constraints to an unprecedented level with unique cross-platform bi-directional EDA integration into the engineering desk top in real time using Internet technologies.''

By leveraging component end-of-life (EOL), product change notification (PCN) and engineering change notification (ECN) information the engineer can predict lifecycle and can assess design-in risk. The solution also enables engineers to navigate through the database by generic die, package, and pins, to cross-reference internal and external part numbers, as well as back annotate schematic with procurable part numbers.

The PartNavigator 2.0 software provides useful reports for project documentation powered by an up-to-date parts database that includes data sheet links. The solution offers a scalable system that is quickly deployed and easy to use.

Price and Availability

The PartNavigator 2.0 product will be available Q3 2001 and is available on Windows 95/98/NT4.0/2000 and all UNIX platforms including Sun, HP and IBM. The software integrates with all leading capture tools. The U.S. list price is $10,000 for an annual floating license/subscription. Interested users are encouraged to visit our Web site and download an unrestricted license for a seven-day trial.
